CHETUMAL

Chetumal is a city divided between the ocean and the jungle, where the colors contrast and combine with the Caribbean exuberance. This corner of the Yucatan Peninsula is called the "cradle of the mingling of races" because it was here where the Mayan princess Zazil Ha married the Spanish shipwrecked sailor with whom she bred the first generation of mixed blood Mexicans.
